The Workshop on functional reviews and audits took place on 18 and 19 February 2010 in Kiev, Ukraine as a follow up to the 5th Annual Public Management Summer Institute on "Restructuring Government to Overcome Crisis". The Workshop was organized by the Main Department of Civil Service Ukraine, in close co-operation with the State Chancellery of Latvia and the Ministry of Finance of Estonia.
The main purpose of the workshop was to enhance knowledge and facilitate the sharing of experiences amongst representatives of the public sector in selected countries in the area of functional reviews/audits. It combined training, presentations of country cases and discussions on a draft methodology for conducting a comparative study on functional reviews. The target audience were government officials with experience in functional reviews and a total of 20 practitioners from Europe and Central Asia participated in the workshop.
The workshop has been organized as a part of the multi-country activity Government in Action to Response to Economic Downturn. The overall aim of this activity is to increase expertise of public administration in the region in restructuring the government to overcome crisis. The project includes several activities: the 5th Summer Public Administration Institute, two workshops on specific thematic areas and two comparative studies.
